My name is Ashlie Jones and I attend Kennedy High School in Bloomington,MN. My favorite thing to do at school is cheer. Ever since I entered high school cheering has been my passion. I love all my fellow cheerleaders because we go through a lot together. I love dancing, acting, modeling, and competing in pageants.I try to stay busy as I can. The more I keep myself active, the more I experience what's really happening in the world. I was a member of the Kennedy Varsity Cheer Team but I wanted to focus more on competing so I tried out and made the Bloomington Jefferson High School Competition Cheer Team. I am excited this is my first year competing and we came in 2nd place at regional's and won a bid to nationals in Florida.
Upon graduating from high school I plan to continue my education
and go to medical school to become a plastic surgeon.
I volunteer at The Presbyterian Nursing Home in Bloomington,MN during my free time. I was working with the Choices Education Group to help bring the choices program to the Bloomington School District but after months of hard work trying to get the program here,I was informed in October 2008 that the Bloomington School District declined to offer the program. I am disappointed but not deterred. Although, I will not be able to bring the Choices program to my community, I will still bring awareness to teens about the choices they make in their lives. I also created a stay in school brochure.
I am now working with the Boys and Girls Club of America www.bgca.org
My platform is based on what I see happening at school. There are many teenagers in our own community dropping out of school, selling drugs and just making poor life choices. I want to help students make the right decisions because the choices we all make now will effect us in our future. If I can inspire just one person who is thinking about dropping out of school to continue their education I will have accomplished part of my dream.
